expectant mode for 2011

Priscilla's Corner

It was a welcome surprise while scrounging through the web for something to fill my supposedly busy schedule of more things to occupy my already occupied mind. I came across and has since been dreaming of opening my own e-store that caters especially to items that has been hand crafted and made lovingly with hands that pays special attention to details that mass production normally forgoes.

I have since hoarded fabrics and beads and yarns and special materials and in my mind i have carefully arranged my apartment to fit a nice artsy-etsy studio where I plan to spend days on ends crafting pieces that I am not sure will sell. As a self expression of a creative mind that i force out of my gut every once in a while when I am feeling restless. I imagine myself a melancholic recluse trying to eke out a living with my profound creations of art much like artists of late on the same pedestal as Da Vinci, Picasso and Monet.

This year will be an exciting journey for me of my dream's realization. I have lots yet to hit and miss.  I know exciting possibilities await.  Meanwhile,  i have created an etsy  for  my mother's  quirks.  You  can view the shop on  this link.

Gem got her planner!!! Yaaayy!! :)

It's been a crazy tradition getting this starbucks planner every year. Today Gem got hers!! Yaaay!!! Cheers!!! Yaaaay!!! :)

I have been wanting an e-book reader for the longest time (est. time - 2 years). I think it is the greatest invention ever, it is the most amazing thing. I finally asked my cousin to buy me a nook, the WiFi version only, it costs about a hundred and forty-nine plus a few bucks for tax. Roughly converted it's around Php7,000.00. Not so bad given my thrill and expectancy. I am just about discovering my the gadget. For now, i heart nookie!!

lahn-vahne - Lanvin for H&M

this image of the man himself is from this site

Icon Lanvin has recently launched a collaboration with H&M that made everybody go gaga. This is an interesting illustration of the man himself that I got from Trendland by Artaksiniya.

(EXCERPT FROM TRENDLAND) Artaksiniya is Russian artist living and working in China. She has been at her craft since a very young age and you can see that in her very refined style and taste. I have selected a some of my favorite works but you should definitely visit her site as well to see her paintings and other illustrations.

astrology - what's in the stars

"The Ten of Wands card suggests that my power today lies in conscience. ""He ain't heavy, he's my brother."" I own responsibility for the baggage I have chosen to carry but I am ready to lay the weight of a burden or secret I have been hiding behind where it belongs in order to reconcile my conscience. Do I want to be right or alone? I am empowered by blind faith in fulfilling my purpose or greater good to ""just do it,"" and I transform through in passion or direction in principle."

google Ad at the land of the rising sun

This is a great ad/idea i got from Trendland. It's simplistic brilliance is what a big idea should be about. It can be done so easily and it generates interaction and plain fun as the brand successfully combines fashion and client experience playing with projected images on blank walls with only a little bit of help. This is why i am so addicted to technology. I super like. = )

Peace on Earth

Out of the Box Reverence

How do you get to tomorrow right now when all you think about is how tonight ends? It is really a futile display of reverence that I subject myself to a vague void that will ultimately never come to fruition. I have thought it over and over and have come up with an answer that is a refined version of my last analogy and it just amazes me how I can come up with so many different solutions but still arrive at one simple answer. That is to move on. It is not a parody that I illustrate a life that is supposed to be happening but is not. I am the villain that has caused me a stunted growth. I lie victim to my own sentiments. One day I will wake up to find that I have inflicted myself with the same prophesy as Oedipus. And it will just be more than ironic because that has to be my most dreaded state.

Hans Rosling's New Insights on Poverty

"Culture is the most important thing to life. It is the value of living. Think beyond the obvious. The seemingly impossible is possible. "

Interesting views on poverty by Hans Rosling. His presentation evokes such faith in humanity and its ability to conquer what appears to be something that cannot be done. History is a great anchor that we can all hold on to. No matter the time, events or technology, it always proves to us over and over that the basic core values of humans as living beings have basically been unchanged throughout the hundreds of years that the specie has been in existence. We can rest assured therefore that we are all here as part of the cycle.

barbie dolls, bfast at night - in and around makati

It's Christmas season once again and it is such a delight to go around makati for the play of light literally around every corner of this city. My friend, Gem and i was wandering around to see what is out there south at this time of merry making, fat indulging, pocket bleeding month of December.

First off we went to see all the nicely decorated Christmas trees at Dusit Thani. Of course the winner for me is the one by Tessa Prieto Valdes which showcased pretty little Barbie dolls with very nice costumes representing different cities around the Philippines.

All photos are taken by me and my low-tech bb camera. :)

You can see the rest of the other Christmas Trees here.

We went around Ayala Triangle for the light show which is spectacular. At the center of one of the buildings (which i forgot the name) going inside has a very nice Belen depicting the visit of the 3 Maggi to the Holy Family while they were at the manger was such a nice symbolic tradition that I hope to see more of. Every time i see a Belen, something inside me just sort of pauses for quiet time to say a little prayer and for a while remember all of the happy Christmases from my childhood.

At the back of where the Belen stands is the light show. It's such a joy to watch all the light dancing around and all the people mingling about and being merry. It's being a kid all over again.

All the images are again from my bb. These images didn't do the whole experience any justice.

It's good to see an old favorite here down south. Banapple has become so popular that you almost always have to wait in line before you get a table.

We had dinner at the BFAST. I read a review about it and thought it was worth trying out since we were already there and most places were packed. I kind of liked the interior with lots of wood though it was a bit cramped. We ordered the regular breakfast food. They were okay but a bit oily. They had a nice selection of items to choose from. To say the least it was interesting.

It was a nice evening spent with nice company. Am expecting a happy merry Christmas. Cheers everyone!!!!

All photos used in this post are from my own library. Taken with a bb camera. :)
